Animal service departments within local governments often work with rescues and shelters to save cat and dog lives. But running these animal welfare systems brings about lofty bills. With the ASPCA reporting a national average of 6.3 million animals moving through shelters and rescues every year, that’s a lot of hungry mouths and vet bills. No matter how hard and long they work, their mission remains ongoing as cats and dogs always remain in need of help.

The kind hearts behind these groups and organizations dedicate themselves to saving lives and finding forever homes for animals in need. But when the funds run low, that becomes even more difficult. Shelters and rescues rely heavily on donations, so iHeartCats.com has made it their mission to deliver those much-needed funds. And you are an essential part of making those donations happen.

Shop to Save Lives

When you buy cute stuff for you and your cat from iHeartCats.com, every purchase you make donates money to rescues and shelters working hard to care for cats and dogs in need, all thanks to a partnership between iHeartCats.com and Greater Good Charities. This purpose-driven family of charities is “devoted to improving the health and well-being of people, pets, and the planet.” And one of the best ways to serve pets is by filling their food bowls and giving them the comfort of a full belly.

The Rescue Bank, a pet food distribution initiative developed by Greater Good Charities, has kept hungry bellies full for over a decade. To date, the Rescue Bank has delivered over 275 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. And with your help, we can make that number grow by funding more of these much-needed donations to shelters and rescues.

Queen Anne’s County Animal Services and the Maryland SPCA are two groups benefitting from your purposeful shopping. Thanks to you, they’ve been able to treat the foster homes and the animals within them with some extra goodies.

Cushy Beds Because Rescue Bank Donates Food

Queen Anne’s and the Maryland SPCA explained they’re an open admission shelter. This means they take in animals in all conditions. Being a system that deals with animals from young to old and sick to healthy, these groups “see many neonate kittens and shy, fearful dogs.”

“We work hard to place these animals in foster as soon as they arrive.”

Dealing with animals needing rehabilitation time also means foster care is an integral part of the process because these loving foster homes are where healing happens. Because money gets tight in animal welfare, shelters and rescues can often only supply necessities like food and medicine to their foster homes.

“Fosters are typically provided with the essentials but rarely receive anything extra or fun for their foster pets.”

But programs like Rescue Bank help shelters and rescues by leaving money in the coffers, so they provide fun and comfy stuff too.

Queen Anne’s and the Maryland SPCA shared, “Because of these generous donations, we were able to provide two of our dog fosters with comfortable dog beds, and three of our neonate kitten fosters with elevated cat beds.”

Because you shop with iHeartCats.com, you’re not only filling bellies with nutritious food, you’re also helping kittens and dogs get comfy as they journey toward their forever homes. For that, we thank you!
