A simple trip to the theater for Reddit user, Kelsey_Ann turned into a rescue mission when she stumbled across a tiny orange tabby kitten.

The ginger cutie was all alone in the alleyway behind the venue. When he saw Kelsey and her mother he hid in a corner, frozen in fear.

“It was a pretty pathetic sight when we found him. He was literally hugged as close as he could to a corner wall…My mom said she thinks he was trying to make himself as invisible as possible.”

After checking for other kittens, they decided to bring the little orphan home. He spent the entire car ride hiding inside Kelsey’s jacket, not moving or vocalizing.

But all that changed in just a matter of hours. The kitten Kelsey named Atlas began to come out of his shell, snuggling up to his rescuer and initiating play with the family dog. By the next morning he was a brand new cat.

Kelsey placed Atlas in a kennel that first night to make sure he was safe and secure in his new home, but woke to hear him crying. She carried him back to bed with her, and that’s where Atlas has slept ever since!

He loves to snuggle and purrs like a little freight train at bedtime.

Atlas also adores his new Pomeranian sibling.

Kelsey took him to the vet and ordered pet insurance for his future – luckily Atlas turned out to be a healthy boy. She says of the rescue:

“Crazy what some love, food, and toys will do!”

So true! Thanks Kelsey_Ann for giving this sweetie the love and shelter all pets deserve!
