This Mother’s Day, thousands of compassionate iHeartCats supporters stepped up to become the caring hearts orphaned kittens desperately needed.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, supporters, and Hero VIP Club members, the 2026 Mother’s Day Care Package Campaign helped provide critical supplies to vulnerable kittens in rescue facilities, giving them the nourishment, warmth, and support they needed to grow stronger every day.
For kittens growing up without their mothers, those early weeks can be incredibly fragile. Bottle feedings, proper nutrition, warmth, comfort, and socialization can make all the difference between simply surviving and truly thriving. Thanks to you, rescue organizations had the resources they needed to care for these tiny lives during one of the most important stages of development.
Each care package helped provide:
- Bottle-feeding formula and feeding supplies
- Nutritious meals to help kittens grow
- Soft blankets for warmth and comfort
- Gentle toys for healthy play and development
Together, these simple but essential items gave orphaned kittens a chance to stay healthy, gain strength, and prepare for loving forever homes.
From Fearful Feral Kittens to Curious Companions
At Furry Friends Los Angeles, three tiny kittens named Orchid, Jasper, and Lilac were discovered during a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) effort in El Monte, California.
When they first arrived at the rescue, the kittens had never known human care. Frightened and defensive, they hissed, hid, and reacted to people with fear. Their caregivers knew it would take patience, consistency, and plenty of support to help them learn that humans could be trusted.
Thankfully, your care packages helped provide exactly that.
Orchid, once a timid kitten who hid from the world, has already begun transforming. At just six weeks old, her fear has softened into curiosity. She is learning to trust, play, and enjoy being a kitten.
Jasper’s journey has been equally inspiring. Found alongside his sisters, he arrived scared and unsure of the world around him. Today, he is beginning to open up, discovering the safety of human touch and the joy of play for the very first time.
Lilac, who once resisted human interaction altogether, is making remarkable progress as well. Every day, she becomes more comfortable accepting affection, exploring her surroundings, and building confidence.
Now six weeks old, all three kittens are eating a mixture of milk and solid food, beginning their vaccinations, and developing the social skills they need to succeed in adoptive homes.
Giving Bottle Babies a Fighting Chance
At The Animal Protection League, another trio of kittens faced a very different challenge.
Sam, Cinnamon Roll, and Aggretsuko arrived as tiny strays when they were barely a week old. Without a mother to care for them, they required around-the-clock bottle feedings and constant supervision from dedicated foster caregivers.
For neonatal kittens this young, even missing a few feedings can become life-threatening. That’s why the formula, feeding supplies, and nutritional support provided through this campaign were so important.
Sam, the handsome tuxedo kitten, has been steadily growing stronger while learning to explore the world around him.
Cinnamon Roll may have started life small and vulnerable, but she’s already showing signs of becoming quite the character. The largest of her litter, she’s full of energy, curiosity, and endless enthusiasm for play. Her foster mom affectionately jokes that she’s “the reason there are rules.”
Then there’s Aggretsuko, the tiniest member of the litter and the runt who has had to fight the hardest from the very beginning. Whenever he needs food or comfort, he makes sure everyone knows it. Though small in size, his determination is enormous, and thanks to the care he’s receiving, he’s continuing to gain strength every day.
These kittens depended entirely on human caregivers to survive. Because of your support, they received the nourishment and care they needed during their most vulnerable weeks.
A Mother’s Love, Delivered by Compassionate Supporters
While these kittens may have started life without their mothers, they were never truly alone. Every care package represented something much bigger than food, blankets, and supplies. It represented hope. It represented comfort. It represented the kindness of people who wanted to give vulnerable kittens a chance at a brighter future.
Because of your generosity, frightened kittens learned to trust. Hungry kittens received lifesaving nutrition. Tiny bottle babies grew stronger day by day. Rescue organizations were able to focus on providing the hands-on care these kittens needed most.
Most importantly, kittens like Orchid, Jasper, Lilac, Sam, Cinnamon Roll, and Aggretsuko are now one step closer to finding the loving forever homes they deserve.
