There’s no doubt cats have the ultimate model strut and at a fashion show in Istanbul, one fierce feline showed the models how it’s done.

Istanbul has a long and healthy relationship with cats. For centuries, cats have roamed the city and they have no problem with acting like they own the place. Citizens often care for the cats or raise money to help keep them fed. Visitors are charmed by the cats hanging out at cafes, shops, and historical sites. And there are so many felines in Istanbul, it’s hard to count how many.

Rana Babaç Çelebi, the founder of the Cats of Istanbul, supposes there “could be about a million.”

That’s a lot of cats doing as they please!

So, it’s not a surprise when felines crash a scene in Istanbul. And people sure do enjoy watching the cats take over a moment. Much like the enjoyment the attendees of a fashion show found when a cat invaded the runway.

Check Out That Strut

Models were walking the runway at the Esmod International Fashion Show, displaying designer Göksen Hakkı Ali latest looks, when a white and grey cat took to the catwalk.

Ali said, “Everybody was in shock.”

But the models, being the stoic professionals they are, just took the kitty interloper in stride. The cat didn’t make it easy though.

Definitely wanting all the attention, the cat and her fabulously striped tail had no problem taking a swipe at the models. Insert your catty model jokes here! She also didn’t mind plopping down in the middle of the catwalk, forcing the models to step over her.

“It’s unclear where the cat had come from, but her motives were pretty obvious — she wanted the full attention and admiration of the audience,” explained Ali.

“And judging from her adorable little attacks on the models passing by, those weren’t things she was willing to share.”

Fashion Lovers are Cat Lovers Too

Show attendees were delighted by the cat.

And because it’s fashion, cameras were certainly on hand to capture the cat in all her various poses. One viewer even captured the cat’s debut on video, forever immortalizing her first spin on the catwalk. From stretching out on full display to bathing front and center, she lavished in the attention of the audience.

When asked if the cat had a future on the fashion scene, Ali laughed, “Haha, maybe. Why not?”
