Yana the cat is very special. She has incredibly rare markings that perfectly bisect her face into a black half and an orange half. The reason for Yana’s unique appearance is that she is essentially her own twin.
She is what’s known as a chimera cat, meaning she is the result of 2 fertilized eggs that fused together to make one super cool kitty! Yana displays the physical characteristics of both separate embryos.
Her owner, Elizabeth, is an architect and design student from Orsha, Belarus, studying at the National Technical University in Minsk. Elizabeth was lucky enough to find Yana through a classified ad posted to a Belarussian website called Nasha Niva back in July.
Realizing that Yana’s rare beauty should be shared with the world, Elizabeth created an Instagram page to display her gorgeous photos. In less than 6 months, the stunning kitty has racked up more than 16,000 faithful followers.
