Oh, cats! Those bewitching, purr-tastic bundles of joy that weave seamlessly between our ankles and our hearts. Let’s be real: is there anything more majestic than a cat stretching out in a sunbeam, or more amusing than a frisky kitten pouncing on an unsuspecting shoelace? No wonder we mere mortals have taken it upon ourselves to celebrate these fabulous felines with a whole parade of cat-centric holidays.

After all, every swish of their tail and slow blink of their eyes is a reminder of why rescuing and adopting a kitty (or two, or three) is a one-way ticket to a life filled with more fun, laughter, and love. So, grab your calendar, fellow cat fanciers, and let’s celebrate all the cat days!

Celebrate Your Cat Every Single Day

Every month and almost every week, you’ll find a day set aside to celebrate the furry ones. But when you give your heart to a cat, everyday is a celebration!

Cat Holiday Questions, Answered

When is National Catboy Day?

National Catboy Day falls on June 25 every year. It’s an internet born, fandom driven holiday, not an officially registered one, that celebrates catboy characters from anime, gaming, and meme culture.

When is National Cat Day?

National Cat Day lands on October 29 each year. It’s the biggest cat specific holiday on the calendar, and it exists to celebrate cats already living in homes while pushing more people to adopt from shelters.

How many days of the week have the word “cat” in them?

None of them, technically. Spell out Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and you won’t find the letters “c-a-t” together in any of them. It’s a fun riddle cat lovers pass around online, not a real spelling trick, so don’t feel bad if it stumped you for a second.

When is National Calico Cat Day?

There is no single, officially confirmed date for National Calico Cat Day. You’ll see it observed on a handful of different days across the internet, so pick whichever one shows up on your feed and celebrate your calico’s distinctive coat pattern that day.

Is Cat Appreciation Day the same as National Cat Day?

Not exactly. “Cat Appreciation Day” usually gets used online as a stand-in for Happy Cat Month, the entire month of September, founded by the CATalyst Council, rather than one specific day. If you’re looking to show your cat some extra appreciation, National Cat Day on October 29 works too.
