For every heartless animal abuser, there is at least one good Samaritan out there who will go out of their way to help an innocent animal in need!

When a passerby saw a small abandoned kitten in the middle of the road one night, they pulled over their car to rescue it and take it to a clinic.

But as it turned out, this fluffy feline was more than a house cat–she was a baby bobcat!

The 2-pound ball of feisty energy was small, but put up a bit of a fight. And when the clinic realized she was actually a baby “big cat, they called in the Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida for some expert help!

This is not your average house cat…

“Who are you going to call at 10:30 pm when you have a bobcat in a box taped shut? Big Cat Rescue, of course,” the organization wrote on their blog.

There, the kitten was treated to make sure she stayed safe and healthy.

“One look at that defiant little face and you know you are going to have your hands full!” they said.

The little bobcat, with her larger-than-life personality, has earned herself an appropriate name.

“Despite her tiny size Spirit Feather inspires her new name with her ferocity,” wrote Big Cat Rescue.

And although Spirit Feather isn’t the easiest patient, the folks at the Big Cat Rescue wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Even though handling her is difficult, it’s exactly what we want for her.  She needs to see humans as the enemy if she is going to survive in the wild one day,” they wrote.

Check out this introductory video of Spirit Feather:

According to a recent Facebook post, she is a healthy girl and has even gained some weight!

So cool! Best of luck to spunky little Spirit Feather, and thanks to the folks at the Big Cat Rescue for all the amazing work that they do!
