To any cat lover, there are countless reasons why you love cats–and especially your own cat–oh so much. While an actual list could go on like War and Peace, here’s our list of the top 10 reasons why we’re crazy for cats:

10. Those Kitty Paws
If you ever thought about it, they sort of look like upside down teddy bears. Maybe that’s why we find them so irresistibly adorable!

9. Mr. or Mrs. Independent
We love the fact that our cat is independent and doesn’t require us to brace the elements to take them out on walks. They are comfy and cozy right inside, and they will show themselves to the bathroom, thank you very much.

8. The Way They “Knead” Us Speaks Right to Our Heart
Cats usually perform this behavior when they are happy and cozy, and we love knowing that we bring them right to their happy place. Plus we think the kneading equals “needing” in our eyes.

7. Their Ability to Fall Asleep at Random in the Strangest of Places–Or Positions
Whether it’s in our lap, the sink, or even our computer keyboard, we love the way cats can catch those cat naps any time, any place.

6. Because Their Love Is Definitely Earned
Cats are known for being selective with who they love–much different than say, a dog ever would be. Their selectiveness makes us feel special. And as many cat owners can agree, the love from a cat is a truly magical thing.

5. Those Oddball Behaviors
From scurrying across the room in a frenzy to jumping out of their skin at the sudden sound of the most everyday thing, cats make us laugh like crazy with their quirky behavior. And chances are, most cat owners can admit they are a bit of an oddball themselves too at times.

4. Their Unique Beauty
With so many cat breeds, it’s difficult to find two cats that will ever really look exactly alike. Each of our cat’s are special to us, and we love that they are truly one of a kind. And above all, we are quick to defend the cat kind for all those crazy people out there who just don’t see all their true beauty like we do.

3. All Those Meows
Despite the fact that all cats meow, these beautiful creatures actually reserve their meows for us–their humans. From the sweet and chipper meows to the “you better feed me like right now” meows, we cat get enough of all those cat language sounds. And because of this, a lot of times we can’t stop with “just one” cat.

2. Kitty Purrs
Purring makes us just as happy as it makes them. If that warm and fuzzy feeling we get inside had a sound, purring would definitely be it.

1. Because Even When They Can Act Like a Total Jerk, We Could Never, Ever Stay Mad at Them
Whether they scratched up our arm, shredded toilet paper all over the floor, or maybe jumped up on the counter and sent something shattering on the ground below, we could never stay mad at them… at least not for long. Kind of like that famous line from Jerry Maguire, “you had me at hello” our cats had us just like that, except for us it was more like “meow”.
