Conejo, a streetwise stray cat in Piedras Negras, Mexico, knows how to get what he wants.

And finding a kind woman outside a convenience store, he decided he wanted a snack.

So, he showed her where to find it, then she took him home forever.

Let’s Get A Snack

When Conejo spotted Tania Lizbeth Santos Coy Tovar outside a convenience store, he decided she was special. As soon as she said hello to the smart cat lad, he knew she’d be the one to buy him a snack.

Conejo led Tania into the store to show her his favorite things to eat. She followed him right to the cat food aisle and picked up a bag. Conejo approved by patting the bag with his paw.

Tania passed the get-me-a-snack test with flying colors.

And after this hilarious and amazing meeting, Tania knew Conejo was meant to be part of her family.

She also caught the whole snack-fetching adventure in a video, making it a hilarious and heartwarming memory of their first meeting.

Now, Let’s Go Forever Home

First coming home, Conejo had wounds from his stray cat life. Tania shared, “We do not know if it was due to mistreatment of people or simply because he was in fights with other street animals.”

Though he was nervous about getting cleaned up, Conejo seemed to realize it was for his own good. And now, the once dirty and scabbed street cat is a handsome, healthy lad with a dazzling white coat.

On his new Instagram page, Conejo revealed he gained a tabby brother when he moved in with the Tovar family. “I have a little brother named Zulem and we do everything together!!”

In the Spanish language, Conejo means ‘Rabbit’ and the rabbit cat explained, “My name is Conejo because I am a cat that has no tail”.

In one photo, Conejo snoozes comfortably in his new home with a stuffed frog. “My mom gave me a frog René and I like to hug her a lot!!”

Tania said her family has never had a cat before, and already they love Conejo so much. She also thinks the sweet stray cat taught her family a great lesson, “We must show respect, love, and empathy towards other beings.”

And Conejo is truly a kind cat. In every post, he wishes his new internet friends well. In a recent shot with a sunrise, Conejo reflected on these difficult times. Sending out “a strong cat hug”, he dedicated the sunrise to everyone!

Though Conejo was a tough stray cat, capable of showing folks where his favorite snacks wait, he’s got the softest heart around.
