The cats met in alleyways all have their own tales. Some are feral cats who have only known life on the streets or in the wild. Then, there are those that once had a home, but something happened to end that security. Whatever the circumstance, the loss of home leaves certain cats lonely and starving, owning a title they’ve not known before… stray cat.
We generally never learn the stories of before when we meet stray cats. From our introductions onward, it’s our duty to give them the good life they deserve.
And that’s just what Anthony Di Sano did for Mr. Hobo Highwaters.
Alley Cat to Loving Gentleman
For fourteen years, Anthony has been caring for the stray cats that wander an alley near his Rhode Island home. Anthony told Cattiude Daily, “In exchange for food they let me photograph them.”
Generally, its food and some photos, but there are times Anthony comes across cats who need some help. “If they do not seem well, I rescue them.”
And that’s how his friendship with Mr. Hobo Highwaters began.
Anthony explained, “He seemed to be going downhill but saving him was easy.”
Though at first it was all hisses and swats, Hobo “swiping at me at any given moment.”
But after some food and a little encouragement, something switched in Hobo, and “he finally turned friendly so I simply picked him up and brought him home.”
Now that he’s found his forever home, Mr. Hobo Highwaters has gone from tough alley cat to a loving mister, who “loves to be touched and plays constantly.”
“He likes to sleep on his back and likes his belly rubbed while doing so. Craves attention and seeks it. Headbutts, licks and sometimes rabbit kicks happen all day.”
Not only has he turned into the most lovey lovebug ever, but his once dirty and short fur has also changed with good nutrition and care. Anthony reported, “His hair grew long with a huge mane.”
Happy Rescued Family
Not only does Hobo have Anthony to love, but 3 siblings who found their place at home through rescue from the alley. Like Mr. Hobo Highwaters, his kitty fam have some amazing names, “Brutus the Barber Beefcake, KC the Ex Computer Store Kitty, and Little Kitty the Hamburgler.”
As a proud cat dad, Anthony loves to share Mr. Hobo’s Highwater’s transformation story. “In the beginning, he was a rough, tough, mean and dirty looking short-haired cat, to a now long-haired pristine and playful loving healthy big buddy.”
Tales of rescue magic are our favorites too!
