Cats wind up in the care of animal shelters through so many different avenues. Each story of rescue is unique, but sometimes, you stumble across one that just needs to be told again and again. And Dita’s tale of rescue is one these!

Dita knew life in Dearborn, Michigan, as a stray cat who prowled the streets, but those street-savvy paws somehow found themselves high above the ground and stuck atop a telephone pole. The poor cat had been stuck on the pole for three days without food or water. Police and animal control officers were vexed about how to get her down safely, but a nearby DTE Energy truck saved the day, delivering Dita from the top of the pole and into the care of Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit. There, this sweet kitty had a chance to recover from her ordeal, and that’s thanks to you!

Rescued and Hungry

The GOODS Program, a pet food distribution initiative in the Greater Good Charities family, has been keeping hungry bellies full for over a decade. And Dita was one of the hungry animals in need, with the Friends for Animals sharing, “When she arrived to FAMD, she was hyperthermic, underweight, dehydrated but in great spirits.”

Donations from the GOODS Program were there to support her “very healthy” appetite and soon Dita was ready for adoption!
