Every cat has some quirk that drives their humans nutty. Some habit that can’t be broken no matter what, so a cat parent has to adjust to overcome their stubborn feline.

Carrot the cat’s obsession with play and food come together to form his naughty trick. And chances are, you’ve seen what Carrot’s parents have had to do in order to stop harm from befalling the mischievous ginger tabby.

When the fridge door is open, Carrot can’t resist sticking his arm in the crack between the door and fridge. Knowing Carrot’s catch-you-inside-the-fridge trick, his parents hung a sign from a shelf inside the door to remind themselves “check for cat arm b4 closing”. They caught a picture at just the right moment, illustrating why the sign was necessary.

They told Bored Panda, “Carrot thinks it’s a game to stick his arm through the fridge crack and grab us while we are in there.”

A Viral Carrot

Because cat parents know the woes of living with cats who just do as they please, the picture of Carrot’s arm in the fridge went viral. And lots of concern came with the attention too. But his parents assure, “No, he has never been hurt by this (lots of people on the internet seem to think that) and luckily we are only a house of 2, are very careful, and we know when he’s doing it. The sign was put up as a reminder.”

Carrot’s parents also said, “The photo was not staged, and we actually didn’t even think of taking the photo until we saw him do it with the sign and laughed at how perfect it was. If it was staged we would’ve cleaned out our fridge! Haha”

And it turns out, Carrot is a cat who keeps his parents on their toes all the way around.

“The way to his heart is to play for sure. Any time you engage him to play he will respond. He loves tag, play biting your hand, being chased, and playing fetch with his tiger (his favorite stuffed animal since he was a kitten).”

The ginger firecracker also loves his food too. He told Instagram fans, “I like to stare my humans in the eyes and scream for dinner.”

His parents confirm, saying the busy cat is “super food-obsessed!”

A Clingy Carrot

Carrot loves his play and snacks, but he also loves his parents. They said, “He is also very clingy. If he’s not napping in his closet, he’s never more than a foot or two away.”

He’s a good boy who loves his parents, even if his antics can sometimes stress them out!

And to all his fans, Carrot says, “Thank you to everyone who laughed at my fridge pic and shared it with their friends. Never thought it would blow up like it did, but I’m so excited that it has made its way around the internet.”

He’s quite thrilled to have an audience “to appreciate how handsome and funny I am.”

Oh Carrot, you are definitely handsome and funny!
