A tiny kitten named Burger came frighteningly close to losing his life beneath the wheels of a car. Surrounded by hot pavement, moving vehicles, and overwhelming noise, he had nowhere safe to turn.
Thankfully, one compassionate woman heard his cries before it was too late.
A Faint Cry From Beneath The Car
The woman was waiting in a McDonald’s drive-thru when she heard what sounded like a kitten crying. She asked the cashier if she could hear it too, and together, they began searching for the source.
That was when the cashier spotted Burger hiding in the wheel well of the woman’s car.
The frightened kitten was trapped in an incredibly dangerous place. Cars moved constantly around him, and a busy expressway was nearby. The pavement was so hot that it hurt his tiny paws, while the noise and commotion left him frozen with fear.
Had Burger remained there much longer, he could have been struck by a vehicle or overcome by the heat.
Burger Had Nowhere Safe To Go
The woman managed to scoop Burger up and get him away from the traffic. However, finding somewhere safe for him proved difficult.
According to Burger’s rescuer, the local shelter said it could not accept him and suggested that she return him to the McDonald’s parking lot and release him. She knew she could not do that.
Burger was already overheated after being stranded on the scorching asphalt without water. Returning him to a crowded parking lot near an expressway would have placed him right back in the danger he had barely escaped.
Fortunately, Karlee’s Angels was able to step in.
Hero VIP Club Members Helped Make “Yes” Possible
Because of the support provided by compassionate iHeartCats Hero VIP Club members, Karlee’s Angels had the resources to say yes when Burger needed help.
Instead of being returned to the dangerous parking lot, Burger was welcomed into a safe place where he could finally rest. He received a bath, a health check, plenty of food and water, and all the tender loving care a frightened kitten could need.
For the first time since his cries were heard beneath that car, Burger no longer had to worry about burning pavement, roaring engines, or where he would find safety.
He could simply relax and begin acting like a happy kitten.
A Bright Future For Burger
No one may ever know what Burger experienced before he appeared in that drive-thru or how he ended up alone beneath a car. What matters now is that someone heard him, someone refused to leave him behind, and a rescue was prepared to help.
After spending several days in the care of Karlee’s Angels, Burger was transferred to one of the organization’s rescue partners. They will continue caring for him while helping him find the loving forever home he deserves.
Burger is now safe, comfortable, and, according to his rescuers, very happy.
His rescue is a powerful example of what Hero VIP Club members make possible. Their support helps provide food, supplies, and other essential resources that allow rescue organizations like Karlee’s Angels to open their doors to vulnerable animals like Burger.
Because so many caring people came together, Burger’s short life did not end beneath a car on a sweltering day. Instead, it is just beginning, filled with safety, love, comfort, and the promise of a family of his own.
