This Kitten Heard “I Don’t Like Cats” and Took It as a Challenge

| May 13, 2026

Brian Searcy may have considered himself someone who simply did not care much for cats, but one determined little kitten clearly had other plans. From the moment Carlos entered his life, the affectionate fluffball seemed completely devoted to changing Brian’s mind one cuddle at a time. The tiny kitten constantly climbed into his lap, covered him with kisses, and demanded attention every chance he got. No matter where Brian sat or how much personal space he tried to claim, Carlos happily ignored it all, fully convinced that they were meant to be best friends.

Carlos did not waste any time working his charm. The tiny tabby kitten quickly made himself comfortable in Brian’s space, climbing into his lap, demanding cuddles, and planting tiny kisses whenever possible. Personal boundaries meant absolutely nothing to him, and honestly, that only made the whole thing sweeter.

The affectionate kitten followed Brian everywhere, always looking for another chance to curl up beside him or steal his attention. Whether Brian was relaxing on the couch or trying to enjoy a little quiet time, Carlos was right there making biscuits, purring loudly, and insisting on being included.

It became obvious very quickly that Carlos had chosen Brian as his person.

And despite Brian’s supposed dislike of cats, he did not seem to mind nearly as much as he claimed.

A Tiny Kitten With a Big Personality

Part of what makes Carlos so lovable is his persistence. He approaches Brian with complete confidence, as if he already knows the bond between them is inevitable.

Videos of the pair quickly captured hearts online. Viewers loved watching the kitten shower Brian with nonstop affection while Brian tried, and mostly failed, to resist him.

Then came the update everyone was waiting for.

Brian’s wife later shared a photo of the two asleep together, with Carlos snuggled tightly against him. Alongside the picture, she wrote, “Update: Brian and Carlos are inseparable.”

Honestly, nobody seemed surprised.

The internet immediately flooded the comments with jokes about Carlos’s impressive ability to wear Brian down.

One viewer joked, “Meanwhile, Carlos is saying, ‘I’m not much of a ginger person, but Brian here is doing his best to change that.’”

Another commenter laughed, “Brian likes his personal space. Carlos also likes Brian’s personal space.”

Others pointed out something many cat owners already believe to be true: people do not really decide whether they are cat people. Cats decide for them.

Many viewers shared stories of similar experiences in their own homes. Husbands, dads, roommates, and friends who once insisted they disliked cats somehow ended up becoming their favorite humans.

There may actually be a reason for that.

Certified feline behavior and training consultant Dr. Marci Koski explains that cats often prefer people who appear calm and non-threatening. While cat lovers may eagerly approach, stare, or try to interact immediately, people who ignore cats can seem safer and less overwhelming.

To a cat, direct eye contact can feel intimidating or even predatory. Someone who hangs back and gives them space appears much easier to trust.

That may explain why Carlos saw Brian not as someone to avoid, but as someone worth winning over.

And judging by the cuddles, naps, and constant companionship, it looks like the tiny kitten succeeded completely.
