This Cat Is The Queen Of The Pigs!

The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, is home to all kinds of animals – from goats to falcons and everything in between. If you have never been to the sanctuary, it’s a must-see for sure. Each species has its own area, and they are immaculate! In the Cat World, the cats have huge indoor and outdoor enclosures, with openings going back and forth – so kitties can choose to be inside or soaking up the sun outside. It’s a Kitty Paradise and any cat would love to live there!

12 years ago an adorable calico cat showed up at the Sanctuary on her own. Naturally, the staff began feeding her.

“She first showed up as a feral cat years ago when Anne and I lived in Bear House (now an office building at the turn off for Horse Haven),” Best Friends Co-founder Cyrus Mejia told iHeartCats. “We couldn’t get near her, but were putting food out and later discovered the folks in the offices were also feeding her! I don’t think she was considered for Cat World because she was feral, but she was caught and spayed then returned to the area where she was living a happy ‘well fed’ life.'”

At that time, there was no “Piggy Paradise,” and the calico cat simply showed up from time to time. But when the pigs moved in, this strange kitty did too. She began showing up more and more – in Piggy Paradise of all places! Perhaps she was unimpressed with the looks of Cat World, and opted to rule the pigs in Piggy Paradise instead.

The calico has a name as unique as she is: Kitty Kitty Meow Meow. A name, that according to Jen Reid, manager of Piggy Paradise, has evolved over the years.

“At first she was just the cat or the kitty,” she told iHeartCats. “Over time it just sort of morphed into Kitty Meow.  It’s such a very original name!”

So does she sleep with the pigs?

“We have seen her in the houses with the pigs, but not on a daily basis,” Reid answered. “She also has a custom heated and insulated little cat house on the porch of Piggy Paradise that she will sleep in, too.  Basically she sleeps around.”
