Kittens in need have a friend in The Kitten Lady.
Hannah Shaw is “Changing The World For The Tiniest Felines”.
Just about ten years ago, Hannah fell into kitten care after rescuing a kitten stuck in a tree. She turned to multiple avenues for help but quickly learned there wasn’t much in the way of resources for kittens in need. Shaw told the Dodo, “I really had to make my own path to help this kitten.”
Within a month, that first kitten was joined by two more. The third kitten coming into her rescue flock was only a few days old and she already understood she and the kittens were pretty much on their own.
“I knew I was in way over my head, and I already knew that there was no one who was going to help.”
Shaw had found her calling though and, over the next decade, she grew into the guru of kitten care she is today.
“The lack of good information and resources is what inspired me to start my project Kitten Lady,” said Hannah. “I wanted to give people a resource when they find a kitten in need.”
And she’s fulfilled this mission through social media, instructional videos and articles, books, and educational seminars. On top of her advocacy work, Hannah also founded the Orphan Kitten Club, a nonprofit specializing in kitten care.

Hannah has also obtained status as a New York Times Bestselling author with two books on kitten care.
Tiny But Mighty
“Tiny but Mighty is the must-have kitten book for cat lovers, current-and-future rescuers, foster parents, activists, and advocates.”
Shaw compiled her knowledge in a comprehensive manual for those with kittens or thinking about getting involved with rescue and fostering. It includes everything from supply lists to battling common kitten illnesses. Readers will also find rescue stories for some of social media’s biggest kitten superstars.
Kitten Lady’s Big Book of Little Kittens
Kitten Lady’s Big Book of Little Kittens is “an inspiring picture book that takes young readers on the adorable journey of foster kittens from their first days after birth all the way to adoption!”
A picture book filed with photos of adorable kittens, Kitten Lady’s Big Book of Little Kittens aims to delight young readers while educating them on the care of kittens. The photo packed guide answers all the questions growing minds can think of when it comes to kittens.
Hannah travels across the nation as well as other countries, attending conferences and shows aimed to attract animal lovers. At these events, attendees can attend seminars and educational workshops presented by Hannah and other cat experts. She’s even been a part of Jackson Galaxy’s Cat Camp as well as appearing in an episode of My Cat From Hell.
“This has been a big year of travel for me and my education project. In 2019 I will have taught more than 50 humane education workshops, traveled to more than 30 cities to teach, and even taught in 3 countries!”
A Club for Saving Tiny Lives
Hannah founded the Orphan Kitten Club and, with the help of a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the group “is on a mission to end the killing of neonatal kittens–and to give every kitten a chance at a full and happy life.”
Her organization is responsible for TNR programs aimed to quell feral cat populations as well as a kitten nursery designed to save kittens in need of critical care. Hannah and her group have also created the MightyCat Grant Program to fund those working towards “innovation in kitten welfare.”
Hannah said, “There’s no end to the work that needs to be done, so I try to make it fun for people, and make it feel like something people can do and be proud of what they’re doing.”
“My goal is to save as many lives as I can.”
Through all the joy and the heartache that comes with caring for cats and kittens, seems the busy lady is doing just that! Cat lovers everywhere say thank you!
