Unhoused Man Welcomed Woman’s Help And Hands Sick Cat To Her

| January 2, 2025

Seven’s story began with a serendipitous encounter that changed both his life and that of his rescuer, Sophia. During a hiking trip with her ex, Sophia stopped at a McDonald’s to use the restroom. As she stepped out of her car, she noticed a tiny, sickly kitten in the care of an unhoused man. The kitten, who would later be named Seven, appeared frail and unwell. Moved by the kitten’s condition, Sophia felt an immediate urge to help. This moment marked the start of an extraordinary bond between her and Seven.

“I asked the man if there was anything I could do,” Sophia recounted in the video below. “I told him I had three other rescued cats and that I wouldn’t mind taking this one, getting him the care he needed, and nursing him back to health.”

The man, visibly relieved, handed Seven over with gratitude. “He looked so thankful, like he was happy someone could give the kitten what he couldn’t,” Sophia said. Without wasting a moment, she brought Seven to the vet. The prognosis was dire: Seven was battling multiple viruses and was dangerously weak. “The vet said he had maybe 48 to 72 hours left,” Sophia shared. It took nearly eight weeks of dedicated care to nurse Seven back to health, but Sophia’s efforts paid off. His survival was a miracle.

Once Seven began to recover, his vibrant personality emerged. On their first car ride together, he showed a playful and affectionate side, crawling onto Sophia’s lap and snuggling up. “Seven loves car rides,” Sophia explained. “He sits in his bed on the passenger seat, but before long, he’s crawling onto my lap. I have to pull over so I can hold him and shower him with love. That’s when he starts drooling—it’s just a Seven thing.”

Car rides have become a special ritual for them, with Sophia often driving around town just to keep Seven happy. “He doesn’t like bicycles, though,” she noted. “I think it might have something to do with the man who had him before, as he was riding a bike when I first saw them.”

Seven’s name holds spiritual significance for Sophia. “Seven is a divine number, representing God,” she said. “I feel like I was divinely guided to him, so it just felt right to name him that.” Their connection runs deep, with Sophia describing their bond as unbreakable. “We are so in tune with each other. Maybe he understands that I saved him, and he’s grateful. I don’t know, but he’s definitely a mama’s boy.”
