Some animals endure hardships so unimaginable that even seasoned rescuers struggle to comprehend what they have survived. That was the case when a frightened calico cat named Rosie arrived at Ten Lives Club inside a small plastic tub with only a few holes punched into the lid. As the staff carefully opened the container, they were met with a heartbreaking sight. The ten-year-old cat sat silently beneath layers of severely matted fur, her condition so extreme that experienced members of the medical team said they had never encountered anything quite like it before.
Rosie’s overgrown nails had curled from years without care. Her coat carried the smell of the basement where she had spent much of her life.
