The bond between Michael and Tree Kitty strengthened with each passing night. Her presence made the long hours feel shorter and less lonely. Michael found himself looking forward to their nightly interactions. There was something special about Tree Kitty, something that made him feel a deep connection to her.
After several nights of companionship, Michael made a heartfelt decision to bring Tree Kitty home. He couldn’t bear the thought of her being out in the cold and unsafe. “It was a huge relief knowing she was safe inside the house,” Michael said, reflecting on the moment he opened his door to his new feline friend.
Once home, Tree Kitty began to settle in. She quickly adapted to her new surroundings, finding cozy spots to curl up in. However, Michael and his partner, Alexandra, noticed something unusual. Tree Kitty’s belly seemed to be growing, and not just from the generous meals they were providing her.
Alexandra initially thought it was due to good feeding as Tree Kitty’s belly grew larger. But her curiosity led them to a vet visit, where they received surprising news: Tree Kitty was pregnant, and not just with one or two kittens, but with three.

“Our first thought was, ‘Oh my God, we need to find homes for all these kittens,'” Michael admitted. The couple was determined to ensure that Tree Kitty and her kittens would be well cared for and loved.
As Tree Kitty’s due date approached, her behavior changed. She became more affectionate and often led Alexandra to a specific corner in the kitchen. It was clear that Tree Kitty had chosen this spot to be her nursery. Understanding her needs, Alexandra and Michael prepared the area with soft blankets, making it a cozy and safe space.
The day finally arrived. Tree Kitty, with the intuition of a mother, sought out her chosen spot and began to labor. About an hour later, Alexandra witnessed the miracle of birth. “I opened the door and saw the first kitten,” Alexandra recalled, her voice filled with emotion. “She had five kittens when we were expecting only three. Just when we thought there couldn’t be any more surprises from mama cat.”

“I truly believe our animals have a sense of compassion,” Alexandra said. The sanctuary, usually filled with the nocturnal antics of genets and kinkajous, now had a new rhythm – the gentle purrs and mews of Tree Kitty and her kittens.
To provide Tree Kitty with privacy and to keep the adventurous kittens safe, Michael and Alexandra moved the little family to the bathtub. It became a private nursery where Tree Kitty could nurture her kittens without fear of them wandering off.
As the days turned into weeks, Tree Kitty’s kittens grew stronger and more curious. Michael and Alexandra began the process of finding loving homes for each one, ensuring that Tree Kitty’s legacy of love and companionship would continue.
