All of our pets mean so much to us and hold a place very close to our hearts. Through their endless affection, we are able to find mental relief and stability, we are able to heal in areas we thought we never could… They naturally take stress away from us and can bring joy even in hard times. Just like the story of a former marine, Robert Connell who had suffered terribly from PTSD after returning home from deployment.

Since Robert had left home, Hemi was distraught. The cat went out in search of him everyday, until one day he just didn’t come back. The Connell family was devastated and heartbroken from the loss of their beloved pet, and it was coming time to move into a new home. They had no choice but to leave the town without little Hemi…

Miraculously four years later, wonderful news was brought to the Connell family. A call from the animal shelter in New Bern, North Carolina painted smiles on their faces. Hemi had been found and they had called to inform the family! Thank goodness the shelter contacted Robert and his wife, otherwise who knows what would have happened to this greatly loved family friend. Due to some bad weather, the flights to New Bern were cancelled. This would have caused a delay for the joyous reunion.. So Robert decided to drive all the way to the shelter out of impulsive love, which was 2,000 miles away! He just couldn’t wait to be back with his healing best friend Hemi.

Check the video below to witness the heartwarming reunion!

I would have done the same thing if my cat had gone missing and they found him after 4 years! They must have given up hope, who would have thought Hemi would be back in the Connell household for good now! Learn more about Robert’s story in LoveMeow.
