We are Crazy Cat Ladies. We’ve embraced it and our lives are better for it. But do our homes need to look like it? No. These days there are a lot of tools out there that can help keep the fur, litter, and undesirable smells under control.

Pet-Specific Vacuum
A vacuum designed specifically to handle pet hair can be a lifesaver when it comes to keeping a tidy home– especially if you have long-haired cats. These vacuums aren’t just for carpets. Many of them also have attachments for hardwood floors, upholstery, and stairs.

The Furminator claims to reduce shedding by up to 90%. That’s pretty impressive! Not only will that keep your cat’s fur off of your carpet and couch, but it will help your cat have less hairballs too!

Enzyme Cleaner
Even well-behaved cats can sometimes leave undesirable scents behind. Enzyme cleaners are a great way to break down tough stains and odors. Enzymes are also non-toxic, so as long as you follow the directions on the label, they’re totally safe to use in your home full of cats!

Litter Genie
Cleaning the litter box is, by far, one of the worst parts of living with cats. But the aftermath of not cleaning it is even worse. The Litter Genie makes the process as quick and easy as possible. You simply scoop the clumps from the litter box into the top, pull a lever, and the mess and odors get sealed away until the bag is full. With two cats, I end up refreshing the bag about once per week.

Litter Mat with Scatter Control
Litter gets kicked out of the box and suddenly it is everywhere. Using a large mat that grabs and holds stray litter when your cat steps out of the box can make a huge difference.

Feliway mimics the facial pheromones that cats emit when they’re happy and comfortable, and can trick cats into feeling content in a situation that would otherwise spook them. In a multi-cat home, a Feliway diffuser can help calm your cats and dissuade them from feeling the need for territorial marking.
