Working at home can be a great gig, but when having to readjust suddenly thanks to a nationwide urging to stay home, work gets a little tricky sometimes. Throw in some furry family members and the adjustments become even more of a chore. But humor goes a long way to ease the stress, as Sheila Stych learned thanks to Penelope the cat and her husband, Andrew.

As Sheila would work, one of the couple’s four cats liked to perform her cat antics with Sheila’s work computer. Andrew told POPSUGAR, “She likes to ‘help’ my wife with her spreadsheets and emails by walking on her laptop keyboard.”

Penelope’s naughty paws “actually sent an unfinished email to one of her coworkers,” said Andrew.

Andrew wanted to give Sheila a laugh in a trying time. So he got crafty with corporate-speak and kitty cuteness, filing a written complaint against the trouble-making Penelope.

Formal Complaint Against Cat Shenanigans

In the formal letter from the Stych Residence HR Department, Penelope was informed of her mischief, “Penelope, this letter serves to formally document your failure to comply with household regulations, and your lack of adherence to workspace policies.”

But the head of HR didn’t want the sweet grey girl to take the complaint to hard. He made sure to thank her for her hard work through the years. “You have been a great contributor to workplace morale and have been meeting your quota with regards to cuteness and chasing hair ties.”

Penelope was thusly informed, her “continual insistence on attempting to (or succeeding in) shutting off the power strip and computer in the middle of work hours, insistence on stepping on the keyboard during critical company events, and general mayhem has resulted in significant loss of productivity.”

If the silly kitty’s lack of regard for human workspace continued, she was warned, “you may face more severe repercussions up to and including withholding treats.”

Penelope signed, because, well, cats could really care less if HR is on their tail or not. Sheila happily signed too, laughing as she did.

“I love it, and it was well-deserved,” she told POPSUGAR. “As household supervisor I have no problem putting my signature on it.”

Of the office gossip, Andrew said, “Rumors are swirling around the water cooler with her coworkers about the write-up”. It’s suspected one of the four Stych cats have even told the family dog about the incident too.

Andrew also reported, “We’ve observed a remarkable improvement in her attitude since writing the letter. She spent most of the afternoon napping by the window or on the swing in the yard.”

Its good to hear of Penelope’s reformed ways, but our guess is the silly cat will be back to her “general mayhem” in no time!
