Some of the most loving animals in shelters today are also the ones most often overlooked. Across the country, senior pets are spending their golden years waiting patiently for someone to see beyond their age and recognize the companionship they still have to offer. To celebrate 15 years of helping pets and pet parents build lasting bonds, Chewy is shining a spotlight on these remarkable older animals. From loyal dogs and affectionate cats to playful birds and gentle horses, these seniors are proof that love, comfort, and friendship have no expiration date.

Across the United States, countless 15-year-old dogs, cats, horses, birds, and other companion animals are hoping for a second chance. While younger pets are often adopted first, these older animals still have so much love, loyalty, and companionship to offer. Their faces may be grayer and their pace a little slower, but their hearts are every bit as full.

Many of these pets have experienced loss, change, or uncertainty. Some were surrendered when their families could no longer care for them. Others lost the people they loved most. Yet despite everything they have been through, they continue to greet each day with hope, waiting for someone to see their worth.

To help make adoption easier, Chewy is covering adoption fees for participating senior pets and working with shelters and rescue organizations across the country. The goal is simple: help these deserving animals spend their golden years surrounded by comfort, security, and love.

Senior Pets Deserve a Second Chance

Every pet in this campaign has a unique story, but they all share one thing in common. They are searching for a place to call home.

Chico is a gentle senior dog who dreams of a quiet retirement filled with soft blankets, cozy beds, and sunny walks. He can be shy when meeting new people, but patience and kindness help him come out of his shell. Once trust is built, Chico becomes a devoted companion who loves staying close to the people he cares about.

Chachki, a sweet Chihuahua, knows what it feels like to lose everything familiar. After spending years with his family, he was surrendered when they moved out of the country. Thankfully, he found safety in foster care, where his loving personality has flourished. Now he is hoping for a forever home where he can enjoy stability, affection, and companionship.

Rico the macaw proves that age is just a number. Full of personality and playful charm, he enjoys showing off his colorful feathers and impressive dance moves. He loves interaction and thrives when surrounded by activity. Once he forms a bond, Rico becomes an affectionate friend who enjoys cuddling close to his favorite person.

Duchess and Second Chance are both senior horses with bright futures ahead of them. Duchess is a sweet mare who enjoys attention and scratches, while Second Chance is eager to learn and return to an active lifestyle after raising a foal. Both horses have plenty of life left to live and would flourish with caring adopters willing to continue their journeys.

Buzz is proof that senior dogs can still have plenty of spark. Friendly with children and other dogs, he remains happy and affectionate despite needing daily insulin injections. His easygoing nature makes him a wonderful family companion.

Gemma, a senior cat living with kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, is searching for a peaceful home where she can enjoy a predictable routine. Her medical conditions are well managed, and she still has plenty of affection to share with the right person.

Penny’s story is especially heartbreaking. After losing her beloved owner, she found herself searching for a new beginning. The spirited Chihuahua loves being close to her people and would thrive with someone who can spend plenty of time by her side. In return, she offers unwavering loyalty and endless cuddles.

Liz Quackers has already experienced the pain of losing a home once. Adopted as a puppy and later returned to the shelter, she could have easily given up. Instead, she embraced her second chance. Despite limited vision and early-stage kidney disease, she remains a loving, house-trained companion who gets along beautifully with dogs and cats.

Domi also knows the heartbreak of loss. After her pet parent passed away, she entered foster care and became the last member of her feline family still waiting for adoption. She remains playful, affectionate, and eager to share her impressive purrs with a new family.

Zoey’s age has done little to slow her down. Despite being 15 years old, she still has the enthusiasm and playful energy of a much younger dog. Surrendered due to family circumstances, she is ready to bring joy and companionship into a new home.

Holly is another senior dog whose life changed when her owner moved into assisted living. Gentle and affectionate, she is looking for a calm environment where she can enjoy the simple pleasures of companionship and comfort.

Lilli and Toshi are searching for something even more special: a home together. The bonded pair share a deep connection and continue to thrive despite ongoing medical needs. Their story is a reminder that some friendships are simply too important to separate.

Carl, a handsome gelding with neurological and ligament conditions, can no longer be ridden. Even so, he remains a sweet and rewarding companion. His greatest wish may be staying alongside his longtime friend Red, with whom he has shared a bond for more than a decade.

Blue Ridge, Doc Martens, and Khaleesi each bring their own unique canine charm. Blue Ridge is calm, gentle, and happiest exploring the world one sniff at a time. Doc Martens is a loyal cuddle bug who loves belly rubs and staying close to his humans. Khaleesi combines Chihuahua spirit with Pug sweetness, making her a devoted lap companion who brightens every room she enters.

While each pet’s circumstances are different, their stories share a common message. Senior animals still have so much life, love, and companionship left to give. They may move a little slower, require a bit more care, or come with a few gray whiskers, but they also offer something truly special: gratitude, resilience, and the kind of deep bond that only comes from a lifetime of experience.

For these remarkable 15-year-old companions, a loving home would mean more than comfort. It would mean ending their journey knowing they are cherished, valued, and finally where they belong. And Chewy is here to help make that dream come true.
