Did you know buying merchandise from iHeartCats.com helps feed hungry cats?

It’s true; every purchase you make donates money to rescues and shelters working hard to care for cats and kittens in need, all thanks to a partnership between iHeartCats.com and Greater Good Charities. This purpose-driven family of charities is “devoted to improving the health and well-being of people, pets, and the planet.” And one of the best ways to serve pets is by filling their food bowls and giving them the comfort of a full belly.

The GOODS program, a pet food and supply distribution initiative developed by Greater Good Charities, has been keeping hungry bellies full for over a decade. To date, the Greater Good Charities have delivered over 275 million meals to shelters and rescues nationwide. And with your help, we can grow that number by funding more of these much-needed donations to shelters and rescues.

Gateway Pet Guardians and Rescue Bank Make a Winning Combo

Here’s just some of what Gateway Pet Guardians of East St. Louis, Missouri has accomplished in just 6 months with donations from the GOODS program:

  • Administered 332 microchips to companion animals.
  • Lowered length of stay from intake to adoption from 51 days to 22 days on average.
  • Vaccinated an average of 102 pets per drive-thru clinic held, for a total of 798 inoculated.
  • 340 furry family members spayed and neutered.
  • 700 pet ID tags distributed.
  • Fed Carli the cat and her furry siblings nutritious meals that help them thrive!

This is just some of what Gateway Pet Guardians has accomplished thanks to GOODS, with Gateway sharing, “Our goal is to support a thriving pet welfare community in our community, and GOODS helps us accomplish this goal!”

But it’s not possible without you! Carli says without the GOODS program and you, cats like her wouldn’t get their chance to stay happy at home with their families.

Carli the Cat Finds Food and Her Return Home Thanks to Donations

Gateway Pet Guardians is more than a rescue. Because of them, families can stay together because cat parents don’t have to worry over how they’re going to feed their precious kitties. Gateway offers a food pantry for low-income families as well as vaccinations and spay/neuter services. And Carli’s family is one that appreciates Gateway’s efforts. For the past several years, her family has been a loyal part of the Gateway Pet Guardians family, receiving “free spay/neuter services, vaccines, and microchips through our programming.”

And because they participated in these vital programs designed to keep cats and dogs healthy, Carli’s family was “eligible to receive free pet food through our monthly pet food pantry.” So, once a month, Carli and her cat and dog siblings receive yummy food that will keep them all happy and full.

Gateway reported, “Our pet food pantry serves over 50 families per month, providing free dog and cat food to families with pets.”

Because GOODS delivers high-quality food to shelters and rescues, these groups can refocus funds on other programs designed to help animals and their families. For instance, Gateway hosts the “Get ‘Em Home Challenge” in an effort to provide a collar and tag free to every animal in their care. And when Carli went missing recently, she was reunited with her family in no time thanks to the collar and tag she received from Gateway.

“The GOODS program allows Gateway Pet Guardians to better serve our community by allowing our dollars to stretch further. Thanks to Greater Good Charities’ donors, we are able to put food in the bellies of pets in our community, ensuring a long, happy, healthy life with their families that love them.”

All this happens because you shop with a purpose, so pick up a treat for your cat or a snuggly hoodie for you, and know you’re making a difference in the lives of cats and kittens across the nation.
