49 Cats Saved, Let’s Help Them Find Loving, Forever Homes!

There are 49 cats and kittens in West Virginia that are desperately in need of immediate rescue in West Virginia. Their caregiver is an elderly person who is being admitted to a nursing home next week. Without our help, these loving, well-socialized, and healthy cats will be euthanized by animal control.

The good news: They have found no-kill shelters in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Georgia, and North Carolina to take most of them – 15 are still in need of a non-kill shelter, however.

Gwen Cooper, author of Homer’s Odyssey,  has set-up a Homer’s Heroes GoFundMe page to help make sure these kitties get the medical treatment they need at the shelters. This will also help make it easier to find a place for the fifteen remaining cats.

“Now we need your help,” Cooper says. “These no-kills won’t be able to take the kitties without some help to offset vetting costs. (It’s kitten season, and these shelters are overwhelmed as it is.)”

Anything you can spare is desperately needed, and will help save a life.

Cooper assures that she is personally collecting all funds and distributing them to the shelters in proportion to the number of cats each is taking.

“These are all organizations I’ve personally worked with in the past, and can personally vouch for,” she adds.

“Most of us are the proud guardians of rescue cats–cats who wouldn’t be alive to enrich our lives if not for the kindness of rescuers,” Coopers says.  “These 49 cats are just like our own kitties, except that they’re still in need of help.  Be a Homer’s Hero–donate and help save a life today!”

Here are just a few of the lovely cats looking for homes – aren’t they stunning?
