Orange Kitten Left In A Parking Lot Aches For Belly Rubs And A New Home

| March 27, 2024

Animal Rescuers found a small, orange kitten in a parking lot, dodging cars and fighting for his life. He was covered in fleas, skin and bones, and anemic. Little did he know, his life was about to change for the better. This is the heartwarming story of Wilder, the tiny kitten who found a forever home and an unlikely canine mother in Oakley, an 80-pound giant red dog. Wilder’s new life began when a woman, Samantha, spotted an ad on Facebook for this little orange fluff ball and decided she could possibly foster him. Without hesitation, she loaded her dog Oakley into her car and drove straight to the location.

From the moment Samantha saw Wilder, she knew that she would have a hard time adopting him out, as he was terrified of Oakley, the ‘giant red beast’ who was eager to meet him. Nevertheless, she took Wilder home and set him up in her bathroom, giving him a flea bath and removing around 100 fleas from his fur.

As Wilder began to eat, play, and purr, he slowly started to realize that he had found his forever home. Samantha felt the same way, but he was undetermined because her partner may not be on board. With Oakley’s persistence and affection, the tiny kitten eventually warmed up to his canine companion. The two became inseparable, with Wilder nestling in Oakley’s fur and snuggling with her. Oakley even took on a motherly role, cleaning Wilder’s ears and grooming him while he purred in contentment.

Oakley’s love for Wilder was so strong that she even began to enjoy playing with cat toys, especially those on wands or featuring feathers. The pair would often take turns playing with the toys, further solidifying their bond. Their unique relationship resembled that of a mother and her baby, as they would often seek each other out for grooming sessions and cuddles.

Knowing that she wanted to adopt Wilder, Samantha had to convince her fiancé to accept the newest addition to their family. Fortunately, her partner was supportive and easily persuaded, allowing them to officially adopt Wilder and make him a permanent part of their lives.

Today, Wilder is the baby of the family, thriving in his forever home with Oakley. Their heartwarming tale is a testament to the power of love and the unbreakable bond between animals, regardless of their species.
