A few weeks ago, Dave encountered an unexpected guest: a small stray kitten. This little feline managed to sneak into his yard through the back door and eventually into his store, resolute in staying. “I hadn’t planned on adopting a cat, but she didn’t want to leave,” Dave mentioned. The kitten appeared lost, frightened, and uneasy due to the unfamiliar environment. After a brief exploration, she approached Dave, seeking comfort. “I put her on my shoulder, and she immediately felt at home,” he noted. The kitten began rubbing against his ears and neck, purring with contentment. Appreciative of the affection, she clung to her newfound friend, showing no desire to depart.
Assuming she might belong to a nearby neighbor, Dave knocked on doors, asking if anyone had lost a kitten, but had no success. Realizing the kitten was homeless, Dave turned to the internet in hopes of finding her a new family. However, the cunning little cat had other ideas. She cuddled into his lap and fell asleep, making it evident she intended to stay. “How could I object to that face?” Dave wondered.
The kitten soon assumed a permanent role in Dave’s life. In the following days, she was named Vandel and taken for her first vet visit, where she received vaccinations and a microchip. The vet confirmed she wasn’t feral but had been abandoned. Thankfully, Vandel no longer had to roam the streets. She now had a caring human who provided her with a shoulder to sit on and a blanket to snuggle under each night.
Whenever Dave worked on his computer, Vandel would offer her assistance. She enjoyed playing with toys and sleeping beside him like a little furry heater. Sometimes, she even rested on the pillow next to his head. Dave never anticipated being adopted by a kitten who mysteriously found her way into his store, but he’s thankful for the unexpected turn of events.
