Every week, iHeartCats will feature a new shelter kitty in need of a loving forever home. These amazing animals remind us that homeless pets everywhere have extraordinary stories and deserve a second chance.

Meet Lily Belle!

At 7-years-old, Lily Belle is a young senior kitty with a lot of life and love to give. Currently, she’s patiently waiting for a family who deserves her at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in Burlingame, California.

“She’s outgoing and loves to chat about herself all day long,” says Buffy Martin Tarbox, Communications Manager at the shelter.

“Lily Belle has been sheltered with us for two years now and staff and volunteers are perplexed why she hasn’t been adopted yet.”

Sadly, this sweetheart was surrendered was for doing something that’s in her nature: she can nip when she gets overstimulated.

“Like many cats, Lily Belle can become overstimulated and get nippy, so it’s very important for her to go to a home with an experienced cat adopter who knows how to read her body language and when to give Lily Belle the space she wants,” Tarbox explained.

This just means that the beautiful Lily Belle has spunk, along with a desire to play! But she has a calmer side, too; she basks in people’s affection and loves soft pets and cozy cuddles. In fact, this girl has been described as a “people cat.”

Lily Belle would do best in a home with adults and older teens who can respect her moods and boundaries. She’d also prefer to be the only cat in the household. However, she has gotten along with a small dog in the past, so if you have one at home, a meet-and-greet would be necessary. Above all, she just wants someone to understand her, love her, and play games with her every now and then.

Could that be you?

Lily Belle is located at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in Burlingame, California and is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated. If you’re interested in welcoming this gem into your family, check out her adoption profile, which includes information on how to arrange a meeting with her.

Share this story, and together, we can help Lily Belle find her forever home!
