The brave men and women of any fire department typically respond to any animal rescue situations. It’s part of their duty and we’re so thankful for them! But I’m sure the Austin Fire Department were a bit taken aback when they got the call for this next rescue.
This is not your typical cat-in-a-tree situation. A litter of kittens covered with tar were rescued from a hot roof. Austin fire fighters were shocked with what they saw because the kitten’s paws, ears and faces were entirely covered by it! One firefighter said, “They were on a brink of death, there is no doubt about it.” It took two days for the vets at the local center to clean the kittens. Thankfully, they were able to remove all the tar, and any of the hair that had been cut off or accidentally ripped out because of the awful tar grew back! They’re fluffy and as cute as a button! With a clean bill of health, they’re were ready to find their furever homes.

A big thank you to those brave fire fighters who initially saved these precious kittens and of course, the vets and vet techs that worked feverishly to remove the tar.
