Authorities in Chester County have filed charges against an individual following the disturbing discovery of dozens of animals living in appalling and unsafe conditions inside a residence. Among the animals removed were thirty-six cats and kittens, a dog, a rabbit, and even a turtle, all enduring severe neglect. Tragically, one of the youngest victims, a fragile one-month-old kitten later named Roo, was found with one of her front legs missing. Shockingly, her tiny limb had been crudely wrapped in duct tape, leaving her in desperate need of urgent care.
The Brandywine Valley SPCA was alerted to the situation after responding to a report of a stray dog in Coatesville. They found Roo in need of urgent medical attention and took her to their West Chester Campus for emergency treatment.

Adam Lamb, the CEO of BVSPCA, expressed deep sorrow over the kitten’s ordeal, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to her recovery.
Roo, who weighed only 1.5 pounds, underwent successful emergency surgery and is currently being cared for in a foster home.
Upon investigating the suspect’s residence, officers encountered the animals in extremely poor conditions. A total of 38 animals were rescued, with one kitten found deceased and others suffering from various health issues such as infected eyes, untreated wounds, and respiratory infections.

The individual involved is facing one felony charge of aggravated cruelty and two misdemeanor charges of cruelty and neglect in connection with Roo’s case. Additional charges are pending for the other animals discovered. Once the rescued animals are medically cleared, they will be made available for adoption.
