Human Babies Suck Their Thumbs, But This Cute Kitty Sucks His Tail!

| February 17, 2016

Baby mammals have a natural sucking reflex, that reflex is needed so that they can breastfeed from their mothers. And we all know that human babies sometimes suck on their thumbs. According to Mayo Clinic, thumbsucking relaxes them, and that they can develop a habit of thumbsucking when they need something to soothe them, especially when they’re about to sleep.

But it’s not just human babies who suck their thumbs. Other mammals like monkeys and bears do it too! Like humans, monkeys suck on their thumbs while other animals suck on their paws.

However, the kitten in the video has a different preference. This kitty would rather suck his own tail instead of sucking his paw. I’m not sure why he does it, but he looks very relaxed while he’s sucking his tail.

Watch the video and tell us what you think!

Awww…he’s a cutie, isn’t he? Especially the part when he stretches and kneads his paw in the air! So adorable!

But I wonder why he sucks his tail…

They say that kittens do this when they’re separated from their mother too early, especially the ones who are orphaned.

What do you think? Have you seen your cat or other cats do this? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
