Hearing Impaired Woman Teaches Sign Language To Cats…Must See!

When Kim Silva retired from her teaching days at the American School for the Deaf, she knew that she could use her talents in other ways besides teaching humans. Teaching comes naturally for Kim, and she decided to try training her cats basic signs to see if it could be done. “Guess I missed the kiddies so I began teaching the kitties!” Kim was quoted as saying, before her amazing video was captured and shared with the world.

After losing one of her beloved feline companions, she and her husband (who is also hearing impaired) instantly fell in love with a deaf cat they found online via Petfinder. If you see below in the photos and video, Bambi their deaf cat is the pretty white feline pictured on the end.

Kim was hopeful that she would be able to translate her years of skills with the human kind to cats, and since she’d taught her own children how to sign since infancy she was certainly right. Watch this special video and be prepared to smile:
