Government Office Sets Up “Cat Library”

A government office in Las Cruces New Mexico has set up a new and interesting kind of library–a library without books! You may wonder, “A library without books? How can that be?” Well this is no ordinary library–it’s a CAT LIBRARY!

Yep, you got that right, folks. It’s a cat library, and there’s even a cat librarian. Her name is Becky Garcia and she is actually the receptionist at the Dona Ana County Office Building in New Mexico. A couple of years ago, county officials installed a kitty playhouse in the lobby. All the cats and kittens are from the shelter and any employee in the building can check out a kitten for a dose of kitty love. Watch the video for the full story!

What a clever idea. Not only does the cat library relieve the employees from stress, it has also helped the kittens find a forever home. Because of the library, 100 kittens have already been adopted!

Would you like to have a cat library in your area too? Leave a comment below and share your thoughts!
