From Street Life To Great Life, Stray Basks In The Coziness Of A Warm Home

| January 9, 2025

For over a decade, George lived a solitary life on the streets. He had carved out an existence with his brother, but tragedy struck when his brother was hit by a car. Suddenly, George was left alone to navigate the hardships of street life. Concerned caretakers, who had been looking out for him from afar, decided it was time to act. They reached out to Delgado Rescue, hoping the organization could provide George with a safe haven for his twilight years. Jen, a dedicated rescuer, knew George deserved a second chance.

When Jen arrived, she quickly realized George was far from feral. “We didn’t need to trap him at all,” Jen explained to GeoBeats. “That’s how friendly he was. We were able to just pick him right up.” George’s immediate trust and eye contact told Jen all she needed to know—he understood he was finally safe. His gentle nature suggested that he had once known human love and care before being left to fend for himself.

Despite his sweet demeanor, George was in poor health. Years without proper care had taken their toll. His flea allergies were so severe that parts of his ears were damaged, and he suffered from a painful upper respiratory infection that left him unable to eat. On top of that, his teeth were rotting and falling out. Jen and her team sprang into action, giving George the medical attention he so desperately needed. “We gave him antibiotic and steroid injections, oral medications, and laser therapy,” Jen said in the video below. “And honestly, the main ingredient was love.”

Once George began his recovery, it became clear he was meant to be a house cat. “He didn’t miss his outdoor life at all,” Jen shared. “He just wanted to curl up in his fluffy bed, eat, and listen to music.” George thrived under the care of his fosters, first with Jen’s team and later with Jaden, who provided him with a loving “fospice” home.

How did a woman in New Jersey accumulate 47 animals - which she then neglected horrendously - after she had already been found guilty of abuse against 99 animals in Pennsylvania? Sign the petition to ban her from ever owning or living with animals in the future!

George quickly became part of Jaden’s family, even receiving gifts for Christmas. “He’s the happiest cat you’ve ever seen,” Jen said. If George could understand one thing, Jen would tell him, “We’re sorry it took so long, but you are safe now, and you’ll be cherished for the rest of your life.”
