You might think that dogs and cats are natural enemies, but Opie and Yeti would tell you a different story! These two have been best buddies since they first laid eyes on each other, and their friendship shows no signs of fading.

Opie, a one-of-a-kind dog, didn’t have the easiest start in life. Before he found his forever home with his mom, Diana, in New England, he struggled to be adopted. All his siblings were chosen before him, leaving him alone—until Diana came along. From the moment they met, they were inseparable.

“Opie was the cutest dog since day one. And his personality didn’t hide away for long. He was so excited to go places and meet people,” Diana told Cuddle Buddies.

Opie isn’t the most active dog, but he does enjoy some fun in the backyard. More than anything, he loves to cuddle and have his back scratched. He wasn’t very interested in playing with other dogs; he’d watch them play but didn’t feel the urge to join in.

Then Yeti arrived!

Diana knew that her rescue dog wasn’t aggressive, but she was surprised at how quickly he warmed up to a cat! Yeti was the newest addition to the family, and when Opie first met him, he was a bit puzzled. This tiny, fluffy creature kept following him and licking his face. But Opie realized he liked it!

Yeti fit into the family right away, especially bonding with Opie. And Opie loved him right back!

“He chose his brother right away. I wasn’t sure how they would get along, there’s a big size difference. But since the moment they met, he had been the gentlest giant,” says Diana.

It wasn’t long before Opie and Yeti became the best of friends. For Opie, Yeti was the missing piece he’d been waiting for, and now he’s happier than ever. Their home feels even cozier with Yeti around, and their outdoor activities are more exciting!

Their friendship proves that dogs and cats can be great friends.

“They break stereotypes without even trying. They just are the best of friends,” their mom says.
