While out at a dive site, a diver and his team heard what they thought was a cat meowing. Curious, he swam away from the dive float and ventured closer to the woods. To his surprise, a small kitten appeared and, without hesitation, leapt into the water, swimming about 20 meters toward him. He swam out to meet her, and as soon as he was close enough, she jumped onto the man and climbed onto his head. He knew instantly that he had a new member of his family.
Once back on shore, he wrapped the kitten in a towel, gently placed her in the car, and turned on the air conditioning to keep her comfortable for the ride home. The drive was anything but ordinary. The kitten was full of energy, bouncing around, perching on his shoulders, and even sitting on the dashboard, gazing out the window. When it started to rain, he turned on the windshield wipers, which sent her into a playful frenzy as she eagerly tried to catch the wipers with her tiny paws.
Upon arriving home, the kitten immediately took to the family’s dog, Anakin. The two quickly became the best of friends, running around and playing together as if they had known each other for years. Their bond grew strong, and they became inseparable.
Curious about how the kitten ended up at the dive site, the diver returned to the area the next day to look for signs of other cats or a food source. However, he found nothing that explained why such a young kitten would be out there alone. It was a bit of a mystery, as it was uncommon for a kitten of her age to be in such a remote location.
Reflecting on the unusual encounter, the diver expressed his belief that the universe has a way of bringing things into our lives at the right time. Even before reaching the kitten, he had a sense that she was meant to be with them. The experience felt almost surreal, as if their meeting had been orchestrated by fate. He couldn’t help but feel that both he and the kitten were in the right place at the right time, leading to their serendipitous meeting in the water.
The National Park Service has a plan to potentially euthanize up to 170 feral cats under the guise of nuisance control. Demand a policy that protects these cats!
