There’s something truly special about watching your pets and kids become best friends. It creates a cozy, complete feeling in the home. But before that beautiful connection happens, it’s normal for parents to feel a bit nervous.
What if the dog doesn’t like the baby? Or the baby is scared of the dog? The worst thought that crosses any parent’s mind is the possibility of the dog hurting the baby. Still, if we’ve learned anything from those sweet videos of dogs and babies online, it’s that these worries rarely come true—especially when parents keep a close eye on their interactions.
Dogs may act unsure around babies at first. But often, once they get close and sniff the baby, they fall completely in love.
Meet Teddy and His Pack

Teddy, a lovable Husky, lives with quite the crew—his Malamute brothers, Phil and Niko, and a cat named Milo who thinks he’s one of the dogs. They all share their home with their human mom and dad, plus their little sister, Amelia.
Now, the family is getting ready to welcome a new baby boy.
Before the pups could meet their new tiny human, their parents made sure to prepare them. They didn’t want to overwhelm the baby or the dogs, so they introduced the baby to each dog one by one. This careful approach helped make sure everyone stayed calm and safe.
To get the dogs used to the new scent, the parents let them sniff the baby’s clothes and hats. They even let the dogs explore the stroller. These small steps helped the dogs get used to the idea of someone new joining the family.
Phil and Niko had done this before when Amelia came home as a baby. But Teddy had never gone through something like this, so he was chosen to meet the baby first.
A Sweet First Encounter

Then came the big moment—Teddy meeting his baby brother.
With the newborn resting safely in the father’s arms, Teddy slowly came closer, sniffing the air with a mix of curiosity and caution.
“He seemed to wonder why this little creature didn’t have fur like him.”
To make sure Teddy stayed calm, the dad gently held his head. Teddy seemed to understand that he needed to behave in order to stay close. He jumped up on the couch, settled beside his dad, and gave him a loving lick.
“When it came to the baby, Teddy simply stared and sniffed, taking in his new sibling.”
Teddy was still trying to figure this tiny human out. But he seemed to think, if his parents trusted the baby, then maybe he could too.
“Teddy might still be trying to make sense of this tiny new human. But if his parents trust this little one, then perhaps he’s not so bad after all.”
It might take a little time, but it looks like a new friendship is just beginning. Before long, Teddy and his baby brother will likely be the best of buddies, chasing each other around the house and filling it with joy.
