In the hustle and bustle of life, sometimes we just need a break, and what better way to unwind than with a heartwarming video? Recently, the Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami treated us to a delightful moment involving an adorable little capybara, and it’s something you don’t want to miss!
The tiny capybara was caught on camera as she wandered around her water feature, but she wasn’t just walking — she was dancing! Her moves were uncannily similar to a zombie from Michael Jackson’s famous Thriller video. Naturally, the foundation saw this as a golden opportunity and filmed her in action, syncing the video with the iconic song. And the result? It looks as though this cute capybara stepped straight out of the legendary music video. You can watch her adorable dance below.
The foundation captioned the video: “Our natural born entertainer giving her best [Thriller] dance impression on a morning dip.”
But there was more than just entertainment to this clip! The video was part of a campaign to give the baby capybara a name. The caption also added, “Last chance to drop your name suggestions for our [capybara] beauty in the comments below.”
In an earlier post, the zoo shared that the baby capybara arrived at the zoo on Christmas Eve. She was immediately introduced to her new home, where she spent her first night surrounded by love and care from the team.
The challenge? The zoo didn’t have a name for the little one and decided to turn to their fans for help. As a fun incentive, they offered a “1 General Wildlife Experience” to the person who came up with the winning name.
The baby capybara’s Thriller video gained quite a bit of attention, and people eagerly began suggesting names. The excitement didn’t stop there! The foundation partnered with the Today Show and the local NBC affiliate to announce the winning name. And the little capybara now officially goes by “Eve,” in honor of her arrival on Christmas Eve.
“They wanna know, you want to know and @todayshow and @nbc6 officially shared our viral thriller dancing capybara superstar today announcing the official name: ‘Eve’ – a nod to her arrival on Christmas Eve,” said another post from the foundation.
As if the excitement wasn’t enough, several major news outlets picked up on the story, making Eve a true internet sensation. The zoo couldn’t be prouder of their new star, and they shared their love for her with everyone, saying, “it’s safe to say there’s a new star on the block and everyone @zwfmiami couldn’t be more in love with our girl.”
