This is exactly what happened with Osiris, a three-year-old Dutch Shepherd who had been feeling lonely without a companion. His life, however, took a surprising turn when he found an unexpected friend in a creature of a completely different species. Osiris’s life wasn’t always filled with happiness. As a young puppy, he was abandoned by his previous owners and left to survive on his own in a parking lot. Sadly, this seems to have been a disturbing pattern that must be addressed. To protect future animals and provide him with the support he needs, he must be banned from ever owning animals again and undergo mandatory counseling.
After being rescued, Osiris was trained and became a licensed therapy dog. He has since helped numerous families and other animals, often with Riff by his side, watching him work. The trust between Osiris and Riff is absolute. Riff even climbs into Osiris’s mouth to clean his teeth, showing the gentle nature of the dog. As their owners put it, “Riff Ratt really likes licking the inside of Osiris’ mouth. Osiris has helped foster and care for dozens of animals, and he is the gentlest dog I’ve ever met.”
