Imagine waking up one day to find the only family you’ve ever known has moved to another country, leaving you all alone. This heartbreaking scenario became a reality for Stormy, a senior cat who was abandoned when her owners left without her. Now, this sweet feline is searching for a new place to call home.

The Humane Society for Hamilton County in Indiana shared Stormy’s story, a 1-year-old black-and-brown tabby cat who has endured a tough journey. Raised by her family since she was a kitten, Stormy found herself abandoned just before her 8th birthday when her family relocated overseas.

Losing the only home she had ever known was devastating enough, but things only got worse for Stormy. Over the past year, she was passed from one temporary place to another, causing her even more stress and uncertainty.

On top of her emotional turmoil, Stormy also faced health issues. She weighed 22.5 pounds, which made her significantly overweight, and she had developed diabetes. To make matters worse, Stormy had been declawed as a kitten, a painful procedure that has since been banned in many places due to the long-term pain and behavioral problems it can cause.

Thankfully, Stormy has shown incredible resilience. With the help of a compassionate foster mom, she has made great strides in her recovery. Stormy has lost weight and now weighs 15.5 pounds, and her diabetes is under control.

Now, she’s ready to find a forever home. The Humane Society for Hamilton County describes Stormy as having a positive attitude, despite all the hardships she’s faced. They note that despite her name, she is “neither gloomy nor unpredictable” and is “100% friendly and affectionate.”

How did a woman in New Jersey accumulate 47 animals - which she then neglected horrendously - after she had already been found guilty of abuse against 99 animals in Pennsylvania? Sign the petition to ban her from ever owning or living with animals in the future!

Stormy is also learning to trust again and would thrive in a peaceful home where someone is patient enough to earn her trust. After everything she’s been through, Stormy deserves a second chance at a loving home.
