10 Reasons Every City Needs a Cat Café

San Francisco and New York now have cat cafés, where you can go, drink tea, eat a sandwich, and even a adopt one of the kitties roaming around. We think this idea is the cat’s meow and here’s 10 reasons every city needs one.

#1 – Increased adoptions

The cats in the cafés are up for adoption! What a great way to get to know your future roommate and to get attention from potential adopters. After all, how you can leave behind the kitty you had tea with? (Image source: @SomethingFerdinand via Flickr)

#2 – Therapy

For those who live somewhere and can’t have a pet, these cafés provide much needed therapy. Imagine the college student who is all alone and missing his childhood feline? He can come to a cat café  to get his cat fix. (Image source: @PhilHawksworth via Flickr)

#3 – Tourist Attractions

We all know the economy could us a little boost, and these cat cafés are a great attention grabber. Anyone visiting from out of town who is missing their cat across the pond, for example, will want to come in for some cat cuddles. (Image Source: @Killinahandbasket via Flickr)

Let’s be honest, cats are entertaining. Watching people serve tea without tripping over the many cats roaming around? Priceless. (Image source: @StephanieSeiler via Flickr)

#5 – Appease the Kids

A Cat Café might just be the perfect place to bring your kids who are pestering you for a cat, but you aren’t ready. They can have their fix and you don’t have to clean the litter box. (Image source: @AngeliaSims via Flickr)

#6 – Education

Whether the current cat cafés do this now, or not, were not sure. But they are in a prime position to education children about cats, taking care of them, and the importance of adoption. (Image source: @raiderofgin via Flickr)

#7 – Relaxing

Unlike the crowded and loud coffee chains out there, the cat cafés promise a calm, quite, “living room like” atmosphere, making them the best place to decompress after a hard day at work. (Image source: @LisaParker via Flickr)

Rescue dogs get a lot of press because we take them on walks, do events, photo contest, etc. These cafés are a great way to increase awareness surrounding rescue cats and area great platform for fundraising. (Image source: @jeffreyw via Flickr)

#9 – Cats That Smell Like Tea

If you have ever smelled a cat that lived in a barn, you would know they tend to absorb the delicious smells of hay and wood shavings. Imagine how delicious a cat that lived in a teahouse would smell? (Image source: @ClickFlashPhotos via Flickr)

#10 – Why Not?

The final reason, well is more of a non-reason. The real question shouldn’t be why, but why not? We have a lot weird things in our cities, for example bacon-flavored doughnuts. (Image source: @FelineDaCat via Flickr)
