Sometimes in life, both people and animals don’t get an easy start. Meet Scarlette: A brave little fighter that has kicked cancer’s butt, even at the tender age of only 2 years old. But it was this rare form of cancer that caused sweet Scarlette to have her left arm amputated.
The Tipton family wants nothing more than for their daughter to be healthy and happy, and they hoped to help her find a way to feel like someone would understand her struggles. Little Scarlette is a huge fan of the feline kind, and for several months the family looked at local shelters hoping to find a cat or kitten that their daughter could form a unique bond with.
“We wanted a little kitten to have her grow up with, so she has something that’s just like her,” Simone Tipton, her mother, said.
But then the family saw a story about a 3 month old kitten who had recently received amputation on one of its front legs. After watching the program on their local news station, the Tipton family reached out to the San Jacinto Animal Campus to see about giving this special cat a lifelong friend and forever home.
The Tipton family has created a YouCaring (Smiles for Scarlette) account to help with the impending costs of their daughter’s treatment, and if you’d like to make a donation, you can do so here. If you’d like to see more of sweet Scarlette and her kitty, follow them on Facebook.
