10 Laziest Cat Breeds

| January 8, 2015

While cats are known for napping all day long, some are more prone to the laid back lifestyle than others. So if you’re looking for a cat to share the couch with while you’re home, instead of bugging you to play every waking moment, be sure to check out these cat breeds.

#1 – Ragdoll

Aptly named for its tendency to go limp when picked up and handled, the Ragdoll is probably the most laid back of all cat breeds. They are gentle, affectionate and enjoy laying around the house with their people all day long. If you’re looking for a cat to help you relax after a long day’s work, the Ragdoll is your breed.

#3 – Persian

Another large coated breed, Persians are known for being lazy and the stigma is certainly not a myth. Persians enjoy lounging around the house with their people. Although they may seem to be a fancier cat breed, they adapt quite well to apartment life.

#4 – Russian Blue

These beautiful cats are well-suited for apartment life and do not need tons of space to run around and play, as they are much more relaxed than many other felines. Because of their independence, they’re able to relax alone while you’re at work and enjoy your company when you return.

#5 – Ragamuffin

Just like his cousin the Ragdoll, the Ragamuffin is a very gentle cat breed who just wants to lounge around the house with his people. This suits their owners well, too, because they have super-soft, rabbit-like fur that is nearly irresistible.

#6 – Exotic

Exotics have temperaments similar to Persians, and are very docile. They are peaceful cats that adapt well to apartment life, and enjoy spending their time relaxing with their owners.

#7 – Burmese

Although the Burmese is a very vocal cat breed, he wants nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch with his people. If you’re looking for someone to talk to while you relax in bed or watch a movie, the Burmese is the ideal companion.

#8 – Korat

This unique breed is similar to the Russian Blue in both looks and temperament. Although the Korat is very shy, he’s a homebody that just wants to relax with his family all day. The Korat is ideal for individuals living alone or with their significant other, as they adapt well to apartment life and don’t enjoy a busy household.

#9 – Selkirk Rex

The Selkirk Rex is one of the most interesting looking cat breeds, and shares a similar temperament to the Persian. Therefore, this breed is ideal for those looking for a docile companion that can adapt to apartment life well.

#10 – Scottish Fold

These silly cats get their name from the way their ears are folded backwards, and are also very laid back and affectionate. They make great companions, are very gentle and are perfectly happy to relax all day.
