After receiving funds from iHeartDogs.com, Greater Good was able to send a generous grant to Pets for Patriots. This grant has fully funded 45 veteran-pet adoptions to date, with three veteran-pet adoptions pending that will also be covered.
Katherine is active duty Navy, based out of Virginia. She’s been in service for several years and, together with her spouse, decided to commemorate the holidays and New Year by giving a shelter pet a second chance at life. Little did Katherine know that she would be inspired to save not one, but two such lives.
In December 2017 Katherine visited the Virginia Beach SPCA, where she met a pair of adult cats who had bonded during their time together in the shelter. Midnight is an ebony-furred, four-year-old cat and Lucky is also four. Lucky sustained amputation of his toe following a cancer diagnosis, but so far is cancer-free.
Katherine has the added distinction of fulfilling Pets for Patriots 1,600th and 1,601st adoptions, respectively. While each is only a number and behind every number is a life and a story, they were thrilled that this important milestone was funded through a GreaterGood.org grant, made possible by iHeartDogs.com!
Pets for Patriots is one of the many groups that benefit from our partnership with GreaterGood.org. Every time you make a purchase from the iHeartDogs shop, our sister site, you’re helping fund projects just like this!
