Need the purrfect recipe to celebrate the cat lover in your life? Or, if you’re the cat lover, do you need a cake to serve your guests that will gross them out while making them giggle? Then, have a look at the litter box cake veterinary nurse Crissy Lister served as a sweet way to say goodbye to her colleagues at West Mount Vets in Halifax, West Yorkshire!

From the litter pan serving dish to the chocolate icing poops squeezed off on the crumbly top, Chrissy’s daring dessert elicited a wide range of reactions. For those that risked a taste, they were drawn in for seconds. But others couldn’t stomach the idea and avoided the clever cake altogether!

“Goodbyes Are Sh*t”

On her last day, Chrissy wanted to say goodbye to her work family of three and a half years in a fun and memorable way. So, recalling a particular cake she’d seen some time ago, Chrissy got the idea to whip up the hilarious dessert. And, as her cat Arlo often worked reception at West Mount while she was on shift, she wanted her fluffy boy to be part of the goodbye. So, once she assembled the cake in its new litter pan, she added the chocolate poops and included a picture of handsome Arlo with a speech bubble reading, “Goodbyes are sh*t.”

If Arlo looks familiar, you may have seen him on Facebook, where he shares his family’s adventure fun with fans. And there, he also shared the cake’s ingredients, writing, “The cake was a vanilla sponge with raspberry jam and icing, topped with crumble and chocolate icing poops.”

Arlo promises his only contribution was the picture and nothing else!

Crappy Cake Turns Out to Be Tasty

When Chrissy brought the cake to work, she didn’t warn anyone or show it off. Instead, as she shared, “I didn’t reveal it; I just left it in a room and walked off and let them discover it on their own.”

And the reactions ranged, with Chrissy reporting, “I got the odd glance and people going ‘oh my god, that’s amazing.’ Others were like, ‘please tell me that’s a brand-new litter tray.'”

“A couple of people were a bit sceptical about eating it.”

“One person wasn’t a fan and didn’t eat it.”

Chrissy assured everyone the litter pan was brand new, and those that braved a bite “really loved it and went back for seconds.”

“In this field, you have to have that kind of sense of humour, you can’t get through it without a laugh,” said Chrissy.

Keep up with Arlo the Adventure Cat on Facebook, and hopefully, there will be more fun cat-themed desserts from his clever mum!
