Part of each sale through the iHeartCats store, such as from our Rescue Rebuild collection, is donated to Greater Good, which helps support various charities. Thanks to customers like you, happy endings, like the one below, are made possible.

In February of 2016, Rescue Rebuild had an amazing opportunity. They partnered with the Jackson Galaxy Foundation and professional designer Kate Benjamin, from Haus Panther, to help a Los Angeles cat shelter increase its adoption rates with a fun, newly renovated space. The Sante D’or shelter was struggling to attract potential adopters to their penitentiary-style rescue that had bars over the windows, bars dividing interior spaces, and a total lack of color.

Cat behaviorist and animal advocate Jackson Galaxy, host of My Cat From Hell, created the Jackson Galaxy Foundation. Through it, he focuses on improving shelter design and construction.

On his website, he states, “As a long time rescue worker, my heart belongs to the welfare of all animals. I know that knowledge and innovation will save more lives. The pieces are in place, the technology is available, the passion is alive, and the time to act is now.”

Kate Benjamin is a professional designer with a love of cats and is known as the go-to source for anything related to cats and design. She started Haus Panther to develop and design handmade products including toys, beds, scratchers and other décor items. Her design studio has been featured in many major publications and she’s worked alongside Jackson Galaxy on multiple projects.

Rescue Rebuild led a team of volunteers through painting the inside and outside of the shelter, building rolling storage benches with built-in perches, and constructing a new entry area with design elements to make the space appealing and inviting. The finished product allows for cats to be out of their cages and in an environment where they can be themselves. Passersby will quickly notice the attractive designs and cats in the window, beckoning them inside!

Now, these kitties have a better chance at getting adopted! Thanks to readers like you who shop the iHeartCats Rescue Rebuild collection, projects like this can be funded. To learn more about the Rescue Rebuild collection and to find out what we’re supporting at present, click here.
