When you’re the youngest kid in a pack of four, you want to be just like your older siblings. But what if you’re a cat and your big brothers and sisters are dogs? Then your name might be Marlin and you might love a good swim in the salty sea with the doggos!

Marlin is the cutest white and orange tabby cat, but ever since coming home as a kitten, he’s studied everything dogs Buxton, Hattie, Shady, and Buoy have done. And though a cat, Marlin loves life on the water just like his furry family members. Living in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with his parents and the pups, Marlin and the whole herd enjoy swimming, fishing, cruising in the boat, and simply being near the water.

Marlin the Catdog

Marlin meows, preens his ears, and tidies his whiskers like any fine feline should, but as he’ll tell you about himself, “I’m a cat, raised by dogs…and I think I’m a dog.”

“Basically I’m a catdog,” explained Marlin.

You won’t catch Marlin lazing about in the sun like a lot of cats. Instead, he’s out soaking up the rays on the shore or in the sea with the doggos, telling Instagram fans, “I love going on the boat, swimming in the creek, and going to the beach with my family.”

Marlin’s mom and dad, Caroline and Mack, have included Marlin in their outdoor life ever since friends put him in their hands as a little kitten. In fact, Marlin was already playing in a creek with his dog siblings by day two. He’s been one of the hounds from the start, and even now, you can usually find him playing with the dogs he loves so much!

“He will ‘hunt’ them from across the room, play hide and seek, chase after them, and rough house all day long,” Caroline shared. “It’s pretty entertaining.  It’s never a dull moment around here!”

From Kitten to Captain

Though he’s one of the canines, Marlin can’t deny his feline DNA and fishing is a cat’s specialty. Coming as no surprise, Marlin is a natural fisherman, explaining, “I caught a puppy drum and a trout on my first fishing trip.”

Because this kitty loves swimming and fishing so much, he studied up and saved his money so he could take his fishing excursions to new depths! Caroline shared the exciting news, “Marlin got his Captain’s License and bought his first BOAT.”

Perched in the bow of his very own boat, Caroline said, “He’s ready for some Outer Banks Fishing!!”

In fact, Marlin said he couldn’t wait to climb in the boat and spend the summer catching all the fish to be found in the sounds, canals, creeks, and even the Atlantic Ocean. And he can’t wait to do it all with Buxton, Hattie, Shady, and Buoy at his side.

Catch ‘em up, Marlin the catdog!
