Halle Berry Bids Cat Farewell In Touching Post

It may seem like celebrities lead nearly perfect lives, but the fact is, nobody is immune to the grief that follows the loss of a pet.

Yesterday, Halle Berry posted a touching tribute to her beloved cat, Playdough, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 16-years-old.

Berry wrote on Instagram:

“Yesterday my heart broke as we had to put our beloved Playdough to rest due to brain cancer. While his loss is tough for all of us, especially my children, it’s an inevitable part of life.

Playdough and Maceo were pals. Every morning they had b’fast together. Playdough his kibble and Maceo his Cheerios… Side by side… On the floor together.

The bond my kids shared with Playdough was unique and special and through it, they learned compassion and kindness and the importance of loving and caring for life’s sweetest creatures. Yesterday Playdough reminded us all that it’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all! We will miss him!”

According to a story by People Pets, the actress fell in love with felines while filming Catwoman in 2004. Producers rescued about 60 cats from shelters to use on set, and Playdough was one of them.

It was around the time that Berry converted into a “cat person.”

“I used to be a dog person. I had dogs my whole life. And in making this movie, I learned to really respect and love cats from the research and work I did with them,” Berry said in a story by Associated Press.

“I studied [Playdough] very much thinking, ‘I’m going to study him and give him back.’ But I fell so in love in like, one week, that I’m now a cat person,” she’d continued.

Now, the star loves cats of all kinds.

We hope that Ms. Berry finds comfort in knowing that she gave Playdough the best life possible. If there’s one thing we have in common with celebrities, it’s that we love our pets with all our hearts.
