Fancy Feast Introduces Cat-Friendly Christmas Trees for the Holiday Season

| December 5, 2024

As the holiday season kicks into full gear, many families are busy decorating their homes with twinkling lights and festive ornaments. However, for pet owners, especially cat lovers, the joy of setting up a Christmas tree often comes with the challenge of keeping it intact. Cats, with their natural curiosity, seem magnetically drawn to the glimmering decorations, often leaving a trail of broken ornaments or even a toppled tree in their wake.

This year, Fancy Feast is offering a creative solution: the FeastiviTREE. This innovative product isn’t just a Christmas tree; it’s a cat-friendly centerpiece designed to meet the needs of both pets and their owners. With features like a sturdy base that doubles as a cat condo, internal climbing areas, perches for exploring, and a scratching post integrated into the tree trunk, the FeastiviTREE is as practical as it is festive. It even includes cat-safe decorations so cats can satisfy their curiosity without causing destruction.

“Cats love holiday trees because they’re full of all their favorite things – visually interesting, mouse-sized objects with lots of dangly movement, high hiding spots, and they’re often located in the hearts of homes and family activity,” explained Dr. Annie Valuska, Purina’s Principal Behaviorist, in a press release. “The FeastiviTREE takes all the things that cats love about your traditional tree and makes them feline-friendly to meet their needs.”

The FeastiviTREE was launched as part of Fancy Feast’s 40th-anniversary “Feastivities” celebration and is being given away to lucky winners through a special contest. Cat owners can enter the giveaway until December 3 for their chance to bring home this one-of-a-kind tree.

While the FeastiviTREE stands out as an exciting option, it’s not the only attempt to solve the Christmas tree conundrum for cat owners. Argos, a UK-based retailer, offers a “Half Parasol Christmas Tree,” designed with branches that begin halfway up to keep them safely out of reach from curious paws. Families have also come up with DIY alternatives, like suspending trees from ceilings or opting for wall-mounted tree decals, though these solutions lack the charm of a traditional tree.

Target decided to keep selling eggs and pork that come from caged chickens and crated pigs indefinitely despite the pledge made nearly a decade ago to stop using cruel cages and gestation crates. Sign now to urge Target’s CEO to stop supporting animal cruelty.

The FeastiviTREE, however, bridges the gap between festive tradition and pet-friendly functionality, letting cats safely participate in the holiday fun. It’s a thoughtful way to keep both your decorations and your furry friends happy this season.
