Following a slew of pet food recalls and exposé documentaries and articles, it’s no wonder that cat parents are taking a more proactive role in learning about their kitty’s diets. Unfortunately, we’ve learned that we can no longer take nutritional claims at face value; but the good news is, our awareness helps us give our feline friends the happiest, healthiest (nine!) lives possible.

One essential ingredient that many cat foods claim to contain is omega-3 fatty acids. It’s true that these formulas may contain both omega-3 DHA and EPA within the recipe, which helps support the immune system, brain health, and healthy skin and fur. But what pet parents don’t know is that the benefits of this vital nutrient may be destroyed during the process in which kibble is made.

You see, omega-3s may be added to your cat’s kibble recipe, but the heat-sensitive nutrient breaks down when the food is cooked at high temperatures. It’s not that pet food companies are lying to us about what goes into our cat’s food. But they’re being dishonest about what is biologically available to your cat after the harsh manufacturing process.

What’s more, if the omega-3s happen to survive the cooking process, they’re still at risk of spoiling. Once omega fatty acids come in contact with oxygen and light, they have a strong tendency to go bad and become rancid.

So how do you make sure your beloved cat is really getting omega-3s in her diet?

The best way to make sure your kitty is actually getting a healthy dose of this essential nutrient is by adding an omega supplement to her diet. The key is to find a high-quality product that’s properly manufactured and stored, ideally one that’s made using cold press extrusion. Also, omega-3s extracted from low-mercury marine animals are going to be the healthiest way to give your kitty the fatty acids she needs. After all, your kitty deserves the very best!

After scouring the market for an omega fatty acid supplement for our own kitties, we realized we just weren’t satisfied with the type of manufacturing processes used nor the ingredients in available products. That’s why we created Omega 3-6-9 Select Grain Free Skin & Coat Chews with Pure Antarctic Krill Oil.

Cats LOVE these little healthy nuggets, made with krill meal sourced from Antarctic krill, one of the most plentiful marine animals that is at the beginning of the food chain and therefore is the least likely to contain contaminants. You can feel good knowing that your purchase not only nourishes your own kitty but also feeds 14 shelter cats!

Knowledge is power, and the more you know, the more you can help your favorite feline live a long and happy life.
